Vets'Nite*Out - "A Token of Appreciation for Those Who Served"

Do you know...

that one of the most valuable gifts you can give to anyone
is the gift of your time?

If you'd like to really see some faces light up, drop by a local Nursing Home and tell them at the Front Desk that you're there to visit.

Then go to wherever they direct you (usually to a Dayroom)  sit down next to someone and strike up a conversation.

Just try it!

It will really make someone's day ... and do you a lot of good, too! ;-)

"The Wish List"

This is where we  post things that are requested by our Vets, or things we would like to see provided, so if you can help out, please get in touch!

#1. CIGARETTES. Many disabled Veterans residing in Nursing/ Long Term Care Facilities receive very little in “spending money” (currently $40 month.).  We of Vets’Nite*Out don’t think that our Veteran smokers should have to stress over not having enough money for cigarettes, and most are very happy with generic brands!

You can drop off a pack or carton at a local Veterans or Nursing Home,
or to chip-in to the VetsNiteOut Cigarette Fund:

(...Please keep in mind that "to smoke, or not to smoke",  or  whether they "should or shouldn't", is not the issue here...we're talking about confirmed SMOKERS, who have been smoking for many years...not folks who might be thinking about just starting.)

#2. COMPUTERS. If anyone you know has new or used computers they’d like to donate, we know of some very  good homes for them!

#3.  At some point in time, we would like to have some form of  transportation equipped with state-of-the-art  technology and handicap equipment  for our disabled Veterans… so they can ride in comfort and style...(and why not?!)

(Something like this would be nice,
don't you think?  Definitely needs to be on
"The Wish List"!)

We were also thinking that it would look nice to have a collage of all the names or logos of all the Sponsors who made it possible painted all along the bottom half of the bus, and all the way around it!  What do you all think of that?  Comments welcome!

Our Pledge to Our Veterans ...
and to YOU - Our Supporters:

Even in the midst of the fluctuating economy, we will continually strive to line up
more Hosts and Sponsors for great Nites*Out!

(If you are a potential Host, Sponsor or Volunteer, please get in touch.)

We will keep this VetsNiteOut website updated with the latest information.

We should also be applying for "not for profit" status as soon as feasible.

Our ultimate goal is to procure a large bus, with state-of-the-art
handicap equipment, for transporting disabled Veterans in comfort and style.

S0mething we have discovered about Private as well as State-sponsored Long Term Care Facilities: Even if they have a van or bus at their disposal, it is generally used for transporting their Residents to and from Doctor and other health-related Appointments.

Sadly for the Veterans, because of this, as well as staffing limitations and inadequate funding, outside recreation or entertainment is not always a priority.

In the event we are fortunate enough to acquire a bus, our next goal would be to also acquire the as-needed services of a licensed, professional health care Staffing group
to staff the bus on Nites*Out!

(Perhaps a "Volunteer" group of professionals could even pop up ... who knows!)

With our own transportation and professional staffing, the limitations of the Nursing Homes shouldn't be as issue in getting our Veterans out for a nice lunch, dinner, or whatever else they might like to do!

AS ALWAYS, THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND ALL YOU DO, TOO!
