What better place for the Vets to be than the VFW? WooHoo!

Our Vets and Care-Givers were treated like gold, and everyone feasted royally!

The VFW had said they were going to treat the Vets to a Steak Dinner when the kitchen remodelling was completed, and that they did!

The fabulous dinner included sauteed onions and gravy with the steak, a baked potato with all the trimmings, a beautiful
salad, and even dessert!

Thank you everyone at the VFW!  You all are the BEST!!

went PERFECTLY ... start to finish!

HOW IT STARTED:

When we found out that Rolling Thunder had to cancel their annual Fourth of July trip to the Tennessee State Veterans Home (rescheduled for the 11th) Volunteer Linda Morrison went into immediate action and single-handedly organized a group of local Veterans to make a Bike Run to visit with their fellow Veterans at the Vets Home.

The Veteran Riders met at The Pit Stop on Murfreesboro Rd. (between Smyrna and Murfreesboro, TN).  Dale, the owner, was only too happy and proud to host the Riders to a fantastic Pig Roast, so he was cooking as they left on the Run.

Linda Morrison had red-white-and-blue ribbons for all Riders to wear as arm bands.  One bike waved a large American
Flag.  Rich Peoples, VetsNiteOut Founder and Hosts&Sponsors Coordinator, led the Run.

Someone from The Pit Stop went out to the highway to stop the traffic for the Riders.  It was a beautiful sight as 30+ motorcycles pulled out together and headed toward Murfreesboro!

When they arrived at the Tennessee State Veterans Home, several Residents were already outside waiting for them! The Riders made a pass thru the Emergency driveway for the Residents to see, then parked their bikes and went inside to visit.

Rich Peoples and three other Riders pushed their bikes inside the Vets Home for display.

Residents who could were waiting for them in the Lobby and the main Dining Room.   Others were waiting on the various Wings of the Facility, so Staff took some of our Veteran Riders to visit with them.

There was a whole lot of hand-shaking, talking, laughing and visiting going on for the next couple hours... The Residents were so happy that their follow Veterans had come to see them on July 4th, especially ... and our Veteran Riders were absolutely proud to be there!

As they left, the Riders made one more pass through the Emergency driveway before starting back to The Pit Stop.

HOW IT ENDED:

Back at The Pit Stop, Dale was just finishing up roasting the pigs.
Everyone who participated in the July 4th Veterans Run was treated to a Pig Roast with all the trimmings: Roast Pork, German Potato Salad, Beans, Deviled Eggs, and more!  Talk about a FEAST!

And all the Veteran Riders were pretty proud to be a part of such a great 4th Of July Celebration!

Thanks Guys! And Dale! And Linda Morrison!  You made the Vets at the Tennessee State Veterans Home very happy!

You all are the absolute BEST!
